Blizzard announced that the OWCS World Finals will take place in Guangzhou, China, from December 2 to 6, bringing together 12 teams for the year-end championship. The announcement lands as three regional Stage 3 brackets are about to begin, with Korea, China, and Asia all scheduling playoff matches over the next three weeks. Four teams have already punched their tickets: Dallas Fuel, Team Liquid, and Spacestation from North America, and Twisted Minds from EMEA.

The OWCS Korea Stage 3 quarterfinals open November 6 in Seoul. The confirmed matchups pit T1 against RØDE ZANSIDE GAMING and Cheeseburger against Team Falcons. Both series carry direct implications for World Finals qualification, with advancing teams feeding into the broader Asia Stage 3 picture.

One day later, the OWCS China Stage 3 playoffs begin on November 7 with a four-team double elimination bracket. The compact format means a single bad series can end a team’s season, and with only two days of matches before a winner is crowned, there is little room for slow starts.

The OWCS Asia Stage 3 main stage follows on November 20–22 at G-STAR 2026 in Busan. Korean media identify the venue as BEXCO, the convention center that has hosted G-STAR for years. Teams that advance from this stage will also earn spots at the World Finals, making it the last qualification gate before Guangzhou.

The compressed timeline is worth noting: Korea’s quarterfinals start November 6, China’s playoffs follow the next day, and the Asia main stage wraps up November 22. That gives teams roughly two and a half weeks between the first regional match and the final qualification event, with the World Finals itself arriving ten days after that. For rosters that need to adapt to meta shifts or sub in players, the margin is thin.

Who Has Qualified So Far

Dallas Fuel secured their World Finals berth in emphatic fashion, sweeping Team Liquid 4–0 in the OWCS NA Stage 3 final on November 2. The result confirms Dallas Fuel and Team Liquid as the top two NA representatives, with Spacestation also qualifying from the region. In EMEA, Twisted Minds have locked in their spot.

That leaves eight remaining slots to be filled through the Korea, China, and Asia Stage 3 brackets, plus any additional qualification paths Blizzard has outlined for the full 12-team field. The distribution of those remaining slots across regions will shape how the bracket looks in Guangzhou, though Blizzard has not yet published a full seed breakdown.

The confirmed qualifiers represent a mix of established organizations and newer rosters. Dallas Fuel carry the legacy of the Overwatch League era, while Twisted Minds have built their reputation through the OWCS circuit. How those teams match up against the eventual Asian qualifiers—historically the strongest region in Overwatch competition—will likely define the tournament.

The Midseason Patch Looms Over Playoffs

Complicating matters for every team still in contention is the Season 5 midseason patch, which nerfs more than 20 heroes. The changes hit several picks that have defined the current competitive meta. Doctrine, the new support hero added in Season 5, sees longer cooldowns across its kit. Jetpack Cat drops to 200 health, a meaningful reduction for a hero that has been central to the meta. Ana’s Biotic Grenade damage falls from 90 to 60, weakening one of the most reliable anti-heal tools in the game.

On the buff side, Mauga, Junker Queen, and Reaper all receive adjustments that could open new compositions. Whether any of those buffs are enough to shift the meta before the Korea and China playoffs begin on November 6 and 7 remains to be seen—teams will have had less than a week to scrimmage on the new numbers by the time their first matches start.

The timing is not ideal. Teams that built their Stage 3 strategies around Jetpack Cat or heavy Ana usage now face a scramble to adapt, while squads that already practiced Mauga or Junker Queen compositions may find themselves with an unexpected edge. This is not the first time a balance patch has landed mid-tournament cycle, and historically the teams that adapt fastest in the first few days of a patch tend to overperform relative to their seeding.

Uwinks Roster Shakeup

Japanese team Uwinks parted ways with two players and their coach ahead of the remaining Stage 3 schedule. The timing—days before the Asia Stage 3 main stage—makes this a difficult situation for the organization, which will need to field a competitive roster with minimal preparation time. Uwinks had been part of the Japanese competitive scene’s growth through the OWCS circuit, and the departures leave questions about whether the team can remain competitive in Busan.

What This Means for Players

If you play competitively or follow the meta closely, the next three weeks are dense. The midseason patch changes are live now, and the regional playoffs will be the first high-level test of how teams adapt. Watch the Korea quarterfinals on November 6 for early reads on whether Doctrine’s cooldown nerfs push teams toward alternative supports, and whether the Jetpack Cat health reduction is enough to dethrone compositions built around it.

For ranked players, the patch changes to Ana’s Biotic Grenade and Jetpack Cat’s health pool will trickle down quickly. Expect fewer Biotic Grenade picks in higher ranks as the damage reduction makes it less efficient for finishing kills, and expect Jetpack Cat players to adjust positioning now that 200 health means fewer mistakes are survivable.

The World Finals in Guangzhou on December 2–6 will be the culmination. Twelve teams, three arena days at Guangzhou Gymnasium, and the first OWCS world champion crowned under this format. If you have been waiting for a reason to care about the end of the Overwatch competitive calendar, this is it.
