These rules apply everywhere on The Esports Library that you can post something: comments, your profile, your display name, your picture and your banner.
The short version
- Go after the argument, never the person.
- Being wrong about a matchup is fine. Being cruel about it is not.
- If you would not say it to someone at a LAN, do not type it here.
- Nobody here is your content farm. Do not spam.
You need to be 13 or over
This is a 13+ community. If you are under 13 you cannot have an account here, and we will close accounts we find that belong to under-13s. This is not us being unfriendly — it is what the law requires of a site that collects any information at all.
What will get your content removed
- Harassment. Targeting someone, piling on, or following them around the site.
- Hate. Attacking people over race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexuality, disability or age. There is no edgy-joke exemption.
- Threats. Toward anyone, including yourself. We take these seriously and may involve the authorities.
- Doxxing. Posting someone's real name, address, workplace, school, phone number or accounts without their consent.
- Sexual content. Keep it safe for work. Absolutely nothing sexual involving minors, ever, and we will report it.
- Cheating. Selling, advertising or linking cheats, hacks, boosting or account-selling services. Explaining how an exploit works so people can recognise it is fine; helping people use one is not.
- Spam and self-promotion. Affiliate links, dropped channel links, referral codes, repeated identical comments. Mentioning your own content when it genuinely answers the question is fine.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be a pro player, a publisher, a staff member, or another member here.
- Illegal content. Piracy links, stolen accounts, malware.
- Ban evasion. Making a new account to get around a suspension.
Profile pictures, banners and names
Everything above applies to your profile as much as your comments. On top of that:
- Use images you own or have a licence to use. Do not upload someone else's art without credit and permission.
- Keep pictures and banners safe for work.
- No hate symbols, and nothing designed to look like a staff badge.
- Display names follow the same rules. A name that exists to harass someone gets reset.
Supporters get one free display name change. Having it does not exempt the name from these rules.
Comments
Disagreement is the point of a comments section. Corrections are welcome, and we would rather be told we are wrong than left wrong. Just make the case rather than the insult.
Off-topic tangents are fine in moderation. Derailing a guide's comments into an unrelated fight is not.
How we enforce this
Depending on what happened, we will do one of these:
- Remove the content and leave it there.
- Remove it and warn you.
- Suspend your account for a period.
- Close your account permanently.
Most things start at the top of that list. Threats, doxxing, sexual content involving minors and attacks on the site go straight to the bottom of it with no warning.
If your account is closed while you are a supporter, we cancel the subscription so you are not charged again.
Reporting something
If you see something that breaks these rules, email hello@theesportslibrary.com with a link. Reports are handled privately and we will not tell the other person who reported them.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, reply to the email we sent you and say why. We will look again. We are a small team, so give us a few days — and we would genuinely rather reverse a bad call than defend one.
These rules are part of the terms
Breaking these rules is also a breach of our Terms of Service. How we handle your information is covered separately in the Privacy Policy.
