Blizzard released the Overwatch Season 5 midseason patch on November 3, 2026, delivering targeted nerfs to Doctrine and D.Mon while boosting Mauga and Junker Queen. Blizzard confirmed the changes alongside the launch of the Taking Reign event, which concludes the Reign of Talon storyline that has run through the season. The patch also ships quality-of-life improvements, including enhanced gameplay sabotage detection.
Doctrine and D.Mon take the biggest hits

Doctrine received the most sweeping set of adjustments in the patch. His Shrouded Momentum cooldown increased from 8 to 10 seconds, a 25 percent jump that directly limits how often he can reposition or disengage. His Infuse cooldown also rose, from 8 to 9 seconds, tightening the window for cycling between damage and healing states. The numbers inside Infuse itself dropped as well: Infused Damage fell from 90 to 80, and Infused Healing fell from 120 to 110.
The combined effect is a hero who is less punishing when ahead and less reliable when behind. Doctrine players who leaned on Shrouded Momentum to escape bad engagements now have two extra seconds of vulnerability, and the reduced healing output means sustained team fights favor opponents who can pressure through the Infuse window rather than wait it out.
D.Mon’s changes are narrower but just as pointed. His Overstrike Major Perk lifesteal dropped from 150 percent to 125 percent, reducing the reward for landing aggressive dives. More noticeably, his Propulsors impact damage was reduced from 15 to 0 entirely. That removes a small but consistent source of chip damage that D.Mon players could rely on during movement and repositioning. The lifesteal reduction is the more consequential change for ranked play, since it weakens D.Mon’s ability to sustain through extended fights without returning to a healer.
Mauga and Junker Queen get breathing room
Mauga picked up two changes that both push in the same direction: making him harder to burst down. His base armor increased from 125 to 150, which raises his effective health pool against damage types that armor mitigates. His Incendiary Chainguns burning damage over time also increased from 15 to 20 per tick, giving him more pressure during the burn window after a target is ignited. Together, these changes make Mauga a slightly more durable brawler who can afford to stay in the fight a beat longer.
Junker Queen received the largest raw stat increase in the patch. Her base health rose from 375 to 425 in 5v5 and from 450 to 500 in 6v6, a 50-health bump in both formats. Her Carnage cooldown also dropped from 9 to 7 seconds. The health increase is straightforward survivability, but the Carnage cooldown reduction is what changes her gameplay loop. At 7 seconds, Carnage becomes available roughly once per team fight cycle rather than once and a half, letting Junker Queen apply wound pressure more consistently without overcommitting to a single engage.
Taking Reign event and sabotage detection
The Taking Reign event launched alongside the patch and serves as the narrative conclusion to the Reign of Talon storyline that has been threaded through Season 5. Blizzard positioned the event as the setup for the season’s final showdown, offering new cosmetics as players progress through the storyline’s remaining beats.
On the quality-of-life side, the patch introduces enhanced gameplay sabotage detection. Blizzard did not detail the specific detection methods in the announcement, but the addition signals continued investment in identifying players who deliberately throw or grief matches in competitive queues. For ranked players who have encountered intentional feeders or AFK teammates, the improvement should reduce the frequency of those encounters over time, though the practical impact will depend on enforcement speed.
What this means for ranked play
Doctrine mains face the steepest adjustment. The cooldown increases on both Shrouded Momentum and Infuse compress the hero’s effective uptime in team fights, and the reduced damage and healing numbers mean Doctrine can no longer outvalue opponents through sheer resource generation. Players who relied on aggressive Shrouded Momentum plays to create space will need to be more deliberate about when they commit, since the 10-second cooldown punishes whiffed engages more harshly than before.
D.Mon players lose a small but real amount of sustain. The lifesteal reduction from 150 to 125 percent is not dramatic on paper, but in practice it means D.Mon needs slightly more healer support during extended fights. The removal of Propulsors impact damage is minor in isolation but removes a tool that rewarded skilled movement.
Mauga and Junker Queen mains should notice immediate improvement. Mauga’s armor bump makes him less vulnerable to burst compositions that previously deleted him before he could activate his defensive tools. Junker Queen’s health increase and Carnage cooldown reduction make her a more reliable off-tank pick, particularly on maps with frequent short fights where the 7-second Carnage can be used aggressively without fear of being caught without it.
For players outside these four heroes, the patch is largely a meta reshuffle. Doctrine’s reduced healing output may shift support priorities in compositions that previously leaned on him as a secondary sustain source, and D.Mon’s weakened lifesteal could open space for other dive heroes who were previously outpaced by his self-sufficiency.
