Respawn Entertainment is launching the Blood Pact Event on October 13, running through November 3, 2026. The limited-time Halloween event transforms Kings Canyon into a fog-covered night map, introduces faction-based Wild Cards in Wildcard mode, and adds new cosmetics for Sparrow and Alter. EA confirmed the event details on its official Apex Legends page, where the studio described the map as belonging to “the forces of darkness” for the duration of the event.

Beast or Demon: Wildcard Faction System

The core gameplay hook lives in Wildcard mode, where squads pledge allegiance to either Team Beast or Team Demon at the start of each round. Squads then complete damage and knockdown challenges to earn Wild Cards specific to their chosen faction. The two sides offer meaningfully different power profiles.

Team Beast Wild Cards lean into mobility and aggression. Evasive Maneuvers grants faster movement and Double Jump when weapons are stowed. Fast Draw speeds up reload and shield cell deployment. Critical Roll provides temporary critical hits on reload. The package favors squads that want to close distance quickly and win short-range engagements before opponents can reposition.

Team Demon Wild Cards favor sustain and ability uptime. Speedy Charge accelerates Tactical and Ultimate charge rates. Shields Up grants Epic Level shields outright. Super Cells make shield cells regenerate all shield health rather than a portion of it. Demon squads will want to extend fights and outlast opponents through attrition.

The faction split creates a straightforward strategic choice each round: Beast for early-game pressure and rotation speed, Demon for mid-to-late-game durability. Squads that consistently land knockdowns will accelerate their faction progression, which means aggressive peeking and third-party timing carry extra reward during this event.

Fog, Rev Shell Grenades, and a Haunted Map

Kings Canyon itself receives a seasonal overhaul. Random fog descends on the map, hiding squad movement and reducing sightlines. This is not a subtle visual effect—it changes how information works on the map. Long-range pokes become less reliable, and rotations carry more ambush risk.

To counter the fog, Respawn has reintroduced Rev Shell Grenades, which help players locate enemies hidden in reduced visibility. This is a deliberate design pairing: the fog creates the problem, and the grenade provides the answer. Players who stack Rev Shells will have a meaningful information advantage over squads that ignore them.

The map also features haunted buildings, glowing Nessies, haunted Loot Bins, and Pumpkin-skinned EVO orbs as decorative elements. These are cosmetic changes and do not affect loot tables or building layouts, but they reinforce the night theme and make the map visually distinct from the standard Kings Canyon rotation.

New Cosmetics and Bundles

Sparrow receives a new Legend Skin themed as an 80s werewolf, paired with a Character Select Animation. Alter gets a demon-themed Legend Skin alongside a new R-99 Weapon Skin. AltChar also reported Beast and Demon Legend Retheme Bundles for Revenant, Octane, Fuse, and Conduit, though Respawn’s own announcement page does not list every bundle Legend by name.

The event runs on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via the EA app, Epic Games Store, and Steam.

Known Issues

Respawn acknowledged several open issues alongside the announcement. Entering an Alter portal may drop players in the incorrect location. Players can clip through the ground of some structures on Broken Moon. Game settings reset on startup for some players. Additionally, patch notes included a fix for platforms that were unable to access updated language packs.

The Alter portal issue is worth watching given that Alter is one of the featured Legends for this event’s cosmetics. If the bug persists through the event window, it could affect Wildcard matches where Alter is in the squad comp.

What This Means for Players

Blood Pact is a limited-time event mode. It does not affect ranked or standard playlists, so competitive players grinding ranked can ignore it entirely without consequence.

For players who do engage with Wildcard during the event, the faction choice should inform loadout and positioning decisions. Beast squads benefit from close-range weapons and aggressive site-holding because Evasive Maneuvers rewards stowed-weapon movement—meaning squads should plan to close gaps before drawing. Demon squads benefit from slower, more deliberate play because Shields Up and Super Cells reward extended engagements.

The fog mechanic is the most impactful change for anyone who relies on long-range information. If a squad typically uses a sniper or marksman role to scout before committing, the fog will blunt that advantage. Rev Shell Grenades become a near-mandatory utility slot rather than a situational pick.

The event runs three weeks, which is enough time to explore both faction paths without rushing. There is no indication that Wild Cards earned during Blood Pact persist after the event ends.
